Poll shows Pa. support for Arizona immigration law
Tuesday, July 13th, 2010
A majority of Pennsylvanians support Arizona's controversial new immigration law, according to a Quinnipiac University Poll released today.
More than half of respondents approve of the new Arizona law, which empowers law enforcement officials to check the immigration status of people they pull over.
Six in ten Pennsylvanians think the Obama Administration is wrong to challenge the law's constitutionality in federal court.
The survey shows nearly half of respondents – 47 percent – want to see similar legislation in Pennsylvania.
That heartens Butler County Republican Daryl Metcalfe, who's introduced an Arizona-style bill in the House.
"It's not surprising that the majority of Americans support that. I've seen that and I've heard from citizens across the state and across the country, that they want to see our government take action to protect American interests."
Senator Daylin Leach, a Montgomery County Democrat who's introduced a measure barring Pennsylvania authorities from checking people's immigration status, says he isn't fazed by the poll.
He argues people are expressing their support for comprehensive immigration reform at the federal level, and don't fully understand the implications of Arizona's new law.
The poll has a 2.7 percent margin of error.

So, we are just some dumbass citizens in the eyes of Senator Daylin Leach. I think he better be fazed by the polls when it start to show him to be losing when he's up for re-election. And we do know the difference between the so call comprehenive Immigration Reform and our support for the Arizona's Immigration Law.
Pennsylvania gave us the Liberty bell, and the rights that were foundational to our bill of rights. Surely the citizens of Pennsylvania are proud of that tradition, which protected so many of our ancestors when they sought freedom in America. This is a test of whether we deserve the liberty we inherited.
Arizona, it appears, is failing the test. Don't let that crack in the nation's liberty become a break.
Immigration reform, yes. Ari
Other states have similar laws and the Federal Government is supposed to be enforcing similar laws because the people of this country already entrusted it with the responsibility. So what's "controversial" about the law? Probably the press ! and the sick Federal Government which is getting caught with it's "neglect" showing. Actually the law is a rehash with the force of a "REAL" government, the State of Arizona, behind it ! Every state needs to do this because the Federal Government is defunct ! (Watch your oil wells)
