N.J. lawmakers consider opening more online betting

New Jersey lawmakers are considering a measure that would allow Garden State residents to make online bets on Atlantic City's casino games.
Senate Wagering and Tourism Committee Chairman Jim Whelan says more than 500,000 people in New Jersey already play poker on the Internet.
“This is an attempt to regulate what is already taking place in the state,” says Whelan, “generate some revenues for the state, and do it through the Atlantic City casinos so that hopefully they will be able to have some profit by it.”
Whelan's committee has approved the bill that supporters say could create as many as 2,000 jobs, generate up to $55 million in tax revenue for the state and make Atlantic City the global hub for Internet gambling.
They should consider it and they will get big tax money from the booming industry, the online gambling sites and the online gamblers.
