Nine people have been indicted for gun trafficking in New Jersey.
The charges are the result of a joint state and federal investigation.

One of those charged is a Trenton man accused of leading a network that obtained guns from the eastern shore area of Virginia and brought them to Trenton where Attorney General Paula Dow says those weapons were sold to gang members and drug dealers.

"The defendants really didn't care in whose hands these firearms ended, these deadly weapons ended up, and they really didn't care about how these deadly weapons were being used. In most instances what they wanted to do was turn a quick profit."

Authorities say some of the weapons they recovered are connected to homicide and drug investigations.

The defendants also include a Glassboro man accused of selling assault weapons to an undercover trooper. A soldier at Fort Dix was charged with mailing guns to New Jersey when he was stationed in Texas.
