Philadelphia to get 5,000 jobs from stimulus
Sunday, May 9th, 2010
A federally-funded program could mean free workers for companies in the Philadelphia region and jobs for the unemployed.
The Way to Work Program is trying to get five thousand people in the Philadelphia area working with both public and private sector employers. John Dodds is director of the Philadelphia Unemployment Project. He says both workers and employers are being sought with jobs available within the next few weeks.
"They're expecting five thousand jobs in Philadelphia so there's a lot of openings right now, if companies want to be creative or want to help out they can do a good deed and get a free worker. It's a win-win for everybody."
The jobs can pay up to $13 an hour but are only funded through September 30th. Dodds says every day worked helps in this economy. If you want more information you can go to the state of Pennsylvania's website at www.pa.gov.
