Snow plowing becomes snow removing

One of the problems with two major snow storms coming within the same week is finding a place to put all that snow.
"Some people don't know in your cities or urban areas, you not only plow, but you actually put the snow in dump trucks and take it out of neighborhoods and away from the downtown area." said John Rago, Mayor Jim Baker's Communications Director, "That's the only way to clear out the more dense areas like cities."
Wilmington city officials have decided to use a vacant Wilmington Housing Authority location off New Castle Avenue across from Eden Park. After collecting piles of snow on city streets, the snow is lifted into dump trucks, which then haul the snow to the location on the outskirts of the city. To get a head start on that process, Wilmington officials banned all non-emergency travel until about midday within the city limits.
Rago adds the location the city dumps the snow is big enough to accommodate even the huge amount of snow Wilmington received this week.
"We've got plenty of acreage there. So, we're OK. Even the multiple storms have not hurt us thus far in having a place to take the snow." said Rago.
