Governor Christie is creating a new commission to come up with ways of dealing with the financial challenges for New Jersey's gaming, sports and entertainment industry.

Governor Christie says the state's horse race industry is in severe decline, Atlantic City.

casinos face increased competition, and the Sports and Exposition Authority has a $38 million dollar deficit.

Christie: The bottom line for success is to exploit to the greatest degree possible the assets that New Jersey has in order to benefit the taxpayers and the citizens of the state and I don't think anybody could argue at the moment that that's not happening.

Christie says the state can't afford to subsidize the sports, gaming and entertainment industry and all of those businesses need to be self sustaining.

The new commission has 90 days to make recommendations for improvements.
