Former Philadelphia City Controller Jon Saidel made the announcement at the Mayor's Reception Room at Philadelphia City Hall, which he rented for the occasion. Congressman Bob Brady was master of ceremonies, and about a dozen politicians praised Saidel's time in city government. Saidel says he won't be an ordinary Lieutenant Governor.

Saidel: And I am not going to sit back and waste the 30 years of education I have received and the lifetime of knowledge that I have garnered and the commitment that I have made to the people of this city, and learning from the people of this city to help the state of Pennsylvania. The problems that we have are not new, but we have to face those problems in a new way.

The other Philadelphia candidate is retired Commonwealth Court Judge Doris Smith Ribner, who says she has statewide experience that would make her the right choice for Lieutenant Governor.
