Teachers, School District reach tentative deal

The Philadelphia Federation of Teachers has reached a tentative contract deal with the School District after a three week bargaining session.

Jerry Jordan is head of the PFT. He declined to give details of the contract proposal, but said it's a deal both sides can live with.
Jordan: I will be recommending it I think it's a contract that is good for kids and fair for the employees. I'm just happy that we finally reached this agreement.
Jordan says the agreement gives stability for both teachers and students.
The teachers have worked without a contract since the beginning of the school year. It still requires ratification by both the administration and the teacher's union.

I am skeptical to say the least. With Ackerman's offensive handling of South Philly High, false promises of stricter enforcement against violent students, threatening letters and illegal mailed contracts to teachers, to her burying principals in paperwork so they can't do their job. The whole system has become a house of cards where the students that wish to learn suffer because there are little to no consequences or support for the children and families who need it. The children are the ones who ultimately suffer while the media blindly and ignorantly stand behind her.
