Lawsuit filed to save NJ postal facility

Postal workers in New Jersey head to Federal Court to stop their distribution center from being shut-down.

The American Postal Workers Union has filed a lawsuit to stop the closing of the Postal Service Distribution Center in Swedesboro, New Jersey, citing failed logic in the decision to close the facility. Mike Gallagher is a spokesman for the union. He says it will cost more to move the facility than to keep it operating in South Jersey.
Gallagher: Transferring those labor costs to other facilities doesn't save the postal service any money and paying relocation benefits certainly increases the burden on the postal service's struggling financial situation. Yes, they'll save tolls, but they will pay more money for increased fuel costs.
The workers have a friend in Washington. Congressman Rob Andrews says he will do all he can to keep the nearly 700 jobs the facility generates in Swedesboro.
