Reverend Reginald Jackson says Democratic Assemblywoman Sheila Oliver of East Orange would make a good Assembly leader.

Jackson: She has a great sensitivity to folk who are struggling particularly people who are looking for a job, low income, so I think she'll be good for the state.

Oliver would become the state's first African American woman to hold the Speaker's job. Reverend Jackson says having a minority woman in that post would help state government look more like the state's population. Oliver is considered the front runner to replace Speaker Joe Roberts who decided not to run for re-election to the Assembly.
