Chris Christie is outlining how he would revitalize cities and city schools if New Jersey voters elect him governor in November.

Chris Christie says he want to improve the quality of urban schools and would make it easier to create Charter Schools.
Christie: My Department of Education will be helping people who want to put together good charter school applications because what we know is that what's happening in the cities right educationally is failing. So we need to have a longer school day and a longer school year in our cities. We need to have merit pay for teachers.
Christie's plan would allow children in failing schools to get a voucher to attend another public or private school. He's also proposing an income tax exemption for people who move into designated inner city areas.
