The two major party candidates for Governor of New Jersey will be pulling in some heavy hitters this week.
Governor Corzine is getting President Obama. Chris Christie is getting Republican National Chairman Michael Steele. Ingrid Reed, director of the New Jersey Project at the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers University, says the candidates hope to create voter attention on their campaigns by bringing in big name supporters.
Reed: While in New Jersey it's sort of common understanding that people make up their minds of how they're going to vote two weeks before the election, it's not too early to make sure that you have your own party members excited about your campaign.
And Reed says that excitement may help to encourage the candidates' backers to make campaign donations. She anticipates the candidates will bring in more of those high profile supporters before election day.
