New Jersey officials say they have arrested 846 fugitives in the last month as part of a nationwide crackdown.

More than 35-thousand fugitives nationwide were nabbed in operation FALCON which stands for Federal and Local Cops Organized Nationally. Attorney General Anne Milgram says the focus in New Jersey was on violent felons, gang members and sexual offenders.

Milgram: It is critical that we do these types of efforts, these types of fugitive initiatives, at this time of year. Summer is the most dangerous time. We see spikes in murders, we see spikes in assaults and there's no question that we continue to fight and I think very strongly a gang problem in the state of New Jersey.

Over 80 law enforcement agencies in the state were encouraged to identify wanted persons in their communities who were then targeted by arrest teams.
