Alex Schmidt
Alex Schmidt is WHYY’s Arts & Culture desk reporter. Her stories look at trends, innovations and breaking news across artistic disciplines and the region – from historic power plants, to the marginalization of puppets, to the increasing acceptance of self-taught art in museums.
Alex started out in public radio as a volunteer for her hometown station, KCRW. She has worked as a beat reporter for local papers in downtown Manhattan, at The New Yorker Magazine producing podcasts, and at Marketplace as a producer. She holds an undergraduate degree in Art History from USC and a Master's in Journalism, with a concentration in Cultural Reporting and Criticism, from NYU.
