Natural Sciences Museum to loose Brown

The president of the Academy of Natural Sciences on the Parkway in Philadelphia will be stepping down early next year. Bill Brown will have headed the country's oldest science museum for three years. Brown will preside over a research center near Boston.

Bill Brown has accepted an offer from the Woods Hole Research Center in Massachusetts. Woods Hole is more involved in research and environmental policy than the Academy, which focuses on its educational program. Brown, who went law school to study environmental policy, says Woods Hole is more in tune with his training.
During his three years in Philadelphia, Brown has shown his prowess for fundraising, and overseen the creation of environmental research programs focused in Asia.
Brown: There so much going on that's remaking the world – from an economic point of view, from a technological point of view. Everyone who reads newspaper knows the pollution in China. There's just a huge amount of ongoing, addition environmental harm.
The Academy is now searching for Brown's replacement. Vice President Ted Daschler will be the interim leader.
