Dance troops line up to collect funds
Tuesday, October 13th, 2009
At dawn on Monday a line formed outside a building at Spruce and 15th Streets in Philadelphia. They weren't waiting to get Springsteen tickets. They were representatives from local dance companies, waiting for a crack at cash subsidies. Funding was handing out money on a first-come, first-served basis.

The local branch of an organization called Dance USA gave away $57,000 dollars to help dance companies cover theater rental costs, regardless of the quality of the performance.
But the dancers did have to have an agreement with one of several reputable theaters. If the theater was willing to promote the dance company, and that company was willing to get up early on a cold Monday morning, then it got the money.
Tobin Rothlein of the Miro Dance Company says he got funds to stage the classic Stravinsky ballet Pulcinella on the Kimmel Center's Innovation studio.
Rothlein: It's intimate-sized, 100 to 200 seats, so it works well for us. We also like the idea that it is the house where these things happen in their classical form, so it's good place to do a re-make of a classical piece.
11 people lined up, and 10 of them got subsidies.

This post is good, whenever I just visit blogs I comes across some shitty articles written for search engines and irritate users but this article is quite good. It is simple, good and straightforward.
Well I was just searching on Google for some videos and songs of my favorite singers and just came across your blog, generally I just visit blogs and retrieve my required information but this time the useful information that you posted in this post compelled me to reply here and appreciate your good work. I just bookmarked your blog .
A guy was driving when a policeman pulled him over. He rolled down his window and said to the officer, "Is there a problem, Officer?" "No problem at all. I just observed your safe driving and am pleased to award you a $5,000 Safe Driver Award. Congratulations. What do you think you're going to do with the money?" He thought for a minute and said, "Well, I guess I'll go get that drivers' license." The lady sitting in the passenger seat said to the policeman, "Oh, don't pay attention to him – he's a smartass when he's drunk and stoned." The guy from the back seat said, "I TOLD you guys we wouldn't get far in a stolen car!" At that moment, there was a knock from the trunk and a muffled voice said, "Are we over the border yet?"
I was browsing to get a bunch of new cloths for my party and just found out this post. I must say that you have done a wonderful effort. Thanks mate.
Lovely! I always like your posts and this one is simply fantastic! You have done a cool effort and I wish your blog will reach the topmost rankings soon! We are always with you mate!
My God, If Dance/USA did that in NYC, the line would go around ten blocks and ther would be 10,000 people in line! Please consider giving away money in our fair city, we dancers are suffering so terribly, after two terms (and more) of an extremely real-estate developer friendly mayor.
