This recipe is an old family favorite of mine. It takes a little more time to prepare, but it is a delicious meal for a hungry family. Plus, if you make it on a Sunday, and if you have some leftovers (not likely), they can make a hearty sandwich for lunch on Monday.

Serves 8 people


  • 1½ pounds ground chuck
  • ½ pound ground veal
  • ½ pound ground lamb
  • 2½ cups fresh bread crumbs
  • 1 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • ⅓ cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon minced parsley
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh rosemary
  • 3 tablespoons catsup
  • 2 teaspoons prepared mustard
  • 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
  • 2 eggs


    1. Place all the ingredients in a large bowl, and mix together until well combined. Press the mixture into a greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.
    2. Bake at 400° for 50 to 55 minutes.
