Exploring The Markets
Kale, mustard greens, arugula, spinach, Brussels sprouts, winter squash, carrots, parsnips, beets, turnips, rutabaga, potatoes, sweet potatoes, onions and garlic. Also, check the frozen selections, farmers usually pack them as soon as they're harvested. There are still different varieties of apples available. Don't forget that the farmers (and your fellow shoppers) will be glad to help you and even share cooking tips.


All varieties of tofu are available at the indoor and outdoor year round farmers markets. Look for fresh and frozen fish selections. Some stands offer ground turkey meat (dark and white), frozen chicken, frozen ducks, sausages, beef and goat meat. And of course eggs, cow and goat dairy. All sort of fresh cheeses like ricotta and breads, cookies, pies, and more baked goodies.
