Pennsylvania state officials this afternoon announced they hope to legalize video poker machines in bars and private clubs. The revenues would fund a tuition relief program. The plan, which still requires legislative approval, would allow each bar to have up to five video poker machines.

In the latest go-round between Philadelphia and the casinos, the city says it is Sugarhouse’s fault that they don’t have a foundation permit yet. This comes from the city’s response filed yesterday to Sugarhouse’s request for “A Special Master” (ouch!) to make Philly move faster on the permitting process.

In December of 2006 the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board awarded 11 casino licenses. Two of them were for Philadelphia. In the board’s statement it expected Sugarhouse Casino to be open by April 2008 and Foxwoods later that year in November.
