Polls close in DE, NJ, PA: The count begins

Polls are closed in Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The big prize in tonight in the region is the race for New Jersey Governor. The Democratic incumbent Jon Corzine is facing a tough re-election battle against Republican Chris Christie and Independent Chris Daggett. WHYY has reporters with all three candidates.

In Pennsylvania, We’re watching who will fill the sole vacancy on the State Supreme Court. The two candidates are Democrat Jack Panella or Republican Joan Orie Melvin. Right now, the court has three Democrats and three Republicans.

In Philadelphia, all eyes are on who will replace District Attorney Lynne Abraham who is retiring. This race features two former Philadelphia assistant district attorneys Democrat  Seth Williams and Republican Michael Untermeyer. Also, Philadelphia’s fiscal watchdog Alan Butkovitz faces a challenge from Republican Al Schmidt.
