The Associated Press has forced the release of the recorded audio of a Teterboro air controller bantering about a dead cat minutes before a small plane collided with a tour helicopter near New York City. The Aug. 8 crash killed nine people aboard the two aircraft, including pilot Steven Altman, of Ambler, Pa.

The widow of the small-plane pilot killed in the collision with a helicopter over the Hudson has filed a wrongful death suit. Pamela Altman is suing the helicopter and tour companies’ owners, claiming they had a “horrid” history of accidents.
