Audio: Feds make last ditch plea for tough Fumo sentence

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009 at 4:18 pm - by Alan Tu. Filed under: Courts.

This video features the actual courtroom audio of federal prosecutor Robert Zauzmer being allowed to give one final point before Vince Fumo was to speak and Judge Ronald Buckwalter’s sentencing announcement. The judge had just heard many witnesses recount the many good deeds that Senator Fumo did for them and how he helped the Philadelphia region. This recording captures the federal prosecutor asking the judge to send a strong anti-corruption message and you’ll also hear Judge Buckwalter explain how he hopes people will view his ultimate decision.

Special thanks to WHYY’s Susan Phillips for coverage of the trial and in obtaining this audio.
