Someone tell Anna Verna she’s supposed to represent Philly

What did she say? That pretty much sums up local reaction to a comment Anna Verna made about why a really high sales tax in Philly could be a good thing.
“The surrounding counties would be the beneficiary of the sales tax (hike), because if you live in Philadelphia and have to buy a large item, and it is taxable, you’re going to go to another county where you may not have to pay that tax.”
Thanks Anna for helping give the City Seal of Approval on the new “Always Buy Burbs” campaign. WHYY’s radio report Susan Phillips was interviewing Anna when she made that comment. So, we decided to let you hear it for yourself.

This may have been a good argument for Councilwoman Verna to ise in PRIVATELY lobbying suburban state legislators. Publicly, it make it look has she doesn’t believe in her own ideas.

I think you may be giving her a little too much credit. Dumb as a bag of hammers might be a little closer to the mark.
