Dolyestown Kills Free Parking Plan for Hybrids

A plan to allow free parking for Hybrid cars in Doylestown, PA has been killed. The Borough’s Public Safety Committee voted unanimously against the plan. Councilwoman Joan Doyle said the plan would have been discriminatory to those who couldn’t afford a hybrid and that it also didn’t sound like the best use of city workers’ time.
The plan had good intentions i.e promote sustainability, but enforcing that would have been silly. It’s the equivalent of checking for mattress tags. Besides, Doylestown could achieve the same results by shrinking the size of parking spots to about the width of a Prius.

Its was a great idea that would have promoted green technology.
It was killed by jealous Hummer driving rednecks who could not stand to see someone getting a $0.25 per hour break on parking while they got nothing. Its a sad case of a pathetic “whats in it for me” attitude. ‘If I dont get a break, nobody should”……..How sad.
