Republican Tom Ridge says He Won’t Run for U.S. Senate in 2010

Thursday, May 7th, 2009 at 12:56 pm - by Matt Campbell. Filed under: Politics.

Former Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge ended speculation today that he might run for the U.S. Senate in 2010. The blog PA2010.com reports that Ridge issued a statement saying he will not run.

“After careful consideration and many conversations with friends and family and the leadership of my party, I have decided not to seek the Republican nomination for Senate.

The speculation began after Republican U.S. Senator Arlen Specter announced he is leaving the Republican Party and would seek the Democratic nomination for his own seat. Ridge’s decision leaves former PA Congressman Pat Toomey and Peg Luksik as the Republican candidates.
