It's Our City announces its April Fool's Day policy

I just spent about 45 minutes going through the 200 or so blog posts that my Google Reader had for me this morning and was struck by the number of otherwise well respected blogs who choose to take part in these stupid April Fool’s Day efforts.
If, and it’s a big if, I came across one or two such posts about some such ridiculous news item that could not be true, then I might be amused but after reading 50 or so and needing to sort through the real and imaginary, I’ve about lost patience. In fact, I was actually amused by the first one I saw this morning, this bit by the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia on their efforts to put a bike lane on the Vine Street Expressway.
But now I’ve reached my limit.
So let me assure you, loyal readers, that It’s Our City will not be taking part in these shenanigans, nor will we be forward blogging any attempts by others to be “humorous.”
It’s not that I have no sense of humor, I’ll laugh at anything and never take myself too seriously. It’s just that it doesn’t appear that many other bloggers who generally write about civic, metropolitan economic, or urban issues have a sense of humor worth sharing. Consider us your inoculation from that on this truly strange day.
It's Our City is a project that uses TV, Radio and Web
to promote civic engagement in the Philadelphia region.
