Rate the ad: District Attorney Candidate Brian Grady

Friday, March 13th, 2009 at 5:02 pm - by Dan Pohlig. Filed under: Politics.

At the risk of giving free media to a candidate who doesn’t seem to have spent that much even on his paid media, here is DA candidate Brian Grady’s effort to capture that all important Irish vote:

Democratic candidate Grady’s ad man is Elliott Curson who is apparently still getting a lot of traction out of ads he made for Republicans Arlen Specter in 1969 and Ron Castille 1985 (according to Grady’s press release) and is not playing up his role in Al Taubenberger’s lone TV spot in 2007. (Which, unfortunately, doesn’t seem to be available on YouTube anymore but featured a girl with “beer goggles” among others.)

    I like it, gets the message across and not too long

    @jonspruce,
    Any interest in full disclosure of any connections you may have to the Grady campaign?

    But in response to your comment, and as a point of information for the rest of our readers, if it the spot was intended for television then it CAN’T be any longer than 30 seconds - unless a candidate pays for a minute, in which case that would have been waaaay too long given the production values of this spot.

    What could be a little more useful would be a nice 2-3 minute bio video just for the web. Maybe it could include some old home movie footage, pictures of Grady from high school and college, his parents, his old neighborhood, some interviews with coworkers, family and the candidate himself….

    He won’t have the money to run such things on television but it wouldn’t cost much to do a nice bio video and try to get some views online.

    Ok… enough of the free campaign advice from me.
