Mayor collecting deliquent taxes one deliquent at a time

Catherine Lucey got to witness firsthand the Nutter administration’s new door-to-door delinquent tax collection policy:
After the announcement, one of the lawyers in question — Robert Gamburg — came outside.
“Did you bother to check to see if I’m trying to make payments to the city,” asked Gamburg, who also questioned why he was being singled out.
Nutter’s reply: “We picked this particular place, because it’s the place that we picked…You owe the city money, pay your taxes.”
So watch out, tax delinquents, for when the mayor comes knocking at your door.
This kind of reminds me of a recent This American Life pledge special that we did for WHYY in which Ira Glass actually called up a listener who had boasted to a friend about listening without ever becoming a member of his local public radio station. Glass called the listener up and demanded a pledge while chastising the guy for not supporting. (To all of you non-This American Life listeners, it was mostly a tongue-in-cheek stunt.)
