Sneak peak at Nutter budget proposal

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009 at 6:13 pm - by Dan Pohlig. Filed under: Budget.

Good news: so far no libraries are being cut so we can avoid that $8 million hullaballoo this time around. No wage or business tax increases.

Bad news: that DVD at Suncoast in the Gallery is going to cost a little more with a (temporary) one percent raise in the sales tax and our property taxes are getting their first boost since the Cosby show was in its original run.

Ben Waxman has some of the details at It’s Our Money.

Oh yeah… pray for help from Harrisburg.

They said that the last time with the extra 1% city sales tax, “temporary”.

Well, I guess technically that 1 percent hike is temporary but only until they finish paying off the bonds that PICA floated to save the city from bankruptcy… 30 years?
