Budget Workshop Organizers to Give Public Briefing on Final Results

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009 at 5:55 pm - by Matt Campbell. Filed under: Uncategorized.

The public will get its chance tomorrow to hear analysis of last month’s budget workshops. Chris Satullo, WHYY’s Executive Director of News and Civic Dialogue, and Harris Sokoloff from the Penn Project for Civic Engagement who together organized the events will present a summary to top city staffers and possibly city council members.

The PhillyStat session has been titled “What We Have Heard: The Public and Workforce Budget Feedback” and begins tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. Municipal Services Building 1417 John F Kennedy Blvd in Philadelphia. The event is open to the public and the proceedings can also be seen at a later time on the city’s cable channel 64 or at the city’s PhillyStat library website.

More than 1700 people turned out at the sessions to offer their opinions on what city services should be cut, and they’d be willing to pay more in taxes. The results were compiled into a 22 page report that was presented to Mayor Michael Nutter on Monday. He discussed the results this morning on Radio Times.

The mayor will present his budget to city council on March 19.
