(NOTE: The next meeting of the Mural Arts Program’s This We Believe takes place TONIGHT, 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at WHYY. Click here to see dates, times and locations for the rest.)

Participants in the Northeast Philly meeting of This We Believe gather in their small working groups.
WHYY is partnering with the Mural Arts Program in its This We Believe initiative (not to be confused with NPR’s and our This I Believe).
The goal of this program is to convene a series of meetings throughout the city and put people in small groups to deliberate what they’d like to see represented in the first ever citywide mural.
Earlier this week, the program kicked off with a meeting in South Philadelphia. Our own Elisabeth Perez-Luna and Therese Madden went along with their recording equipment to listen in as the small groups discussed their values, experiences and what they consider to be important parts of their own neighborhoods. You can listen in on these conversations here and learn what your fellow Philadelphians considered indispensable to a definitive, artistic portrayal of the values of this city.
It's Our City is a project that uses TV, Radio and Web
to promote civic engagement in the Philadelphia region.

This project is REALLY awesome and I’m not just saying that. I met Jane Golden once during a work related lunch and she was inspiring.
I’m glad this program exists.
