Workshops complete, Mayor Nutter continues work on 2010 budget

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009 at 1:12 pm - by Its Our City Staff. Filed under: Budget.

by Tom MacDonald, WHYY News

The four community budget workshops are over, but work on the city budget continues.  WHYY’s Tom MacDonald spoke with Mayor Nutter about what impact the forums will have on his budget decisions.

Mayor Nutter says there have been many interesting suggestions coming out of the community forums on what areas can be cut.

Nutter: “We’re cataloging or compiling all those suggestions or ideas - some we’ve heard before, but it’s still important to hear from citizens - others that are brand new and we’re trying to figure them out in terms of real dollars can it really be implemented.”

Mayor Nutter says he hopes the forums have given citizens perspective on the difficult task of balancing budgets, and that the learning experience will be valuable as citizens consider the spending plan he eventually puts forward.
