Next Budget Workshop is Tonight in Germantown

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009 at 12:02 pm - by Matt Campbell. Filed under: Budget.

The second of four budget workshops in Philadelphia will get underway at 7 p.m. tonight at Mastery Charter School. Registration begins at 6 p.m. More than 200 people are expected to turnout to offer their input on how the city can reduce spending by as much as $200 million. Participants will work in groups of 20-25 using this worksheet to discuss whether to raise taxes and/or cut city services. The mayor has said that he will take into consideration all of the recommendations from the citizen forums before presenting his budget on March 19.

The workshops are being run by the Penn Project for Civic Engagement and WHYY at the request of Mayor Michael Nutter. No city tax dollars are being used for the forums.
