WHYY began its first local segment of the public radio series “This I Believe.” This afternoon listeners of 91fm heard Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter reflecting back on the people who shaped his sense of public duty. This includes his mom, dad, grandmother and the late City Councilman John Anderson. But we also now know where he got his idea to cut city snow removal of side streets to save $8 million dollars over the years ahead. As you’ll hear, shoveling snow was his duty as a child and he was not allowed to accept money.
So, citizens, tomorrow’s forecast calls for 1-3 inches of your civic duty.
Get out your shovels and have fun.
