Unisys deal is done and not in a good way

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009 at 6:05 pm - by Dan Pohlig. Filed under: Economy.

The fact that Unisys has shelved its idea to move the corporate headquarters from Blue Bell to Philadelphia is not surprising given recent news about the company’s financial troubles.  And frankly, it’s not even that disappointing.

Though the original plan to move 225 high paying jobs to Center City was slightly more impressive than other job relocation announcements by the Nutter Administration, I’m still holding out for the news that a Fortune 500 company from way outside the region has decided to move its HQ to Philly.  Until then, the cork stays on the champagne bottle.

According to all reports, the fact that they were denied permission to put a corporate sign halfway up Two Liberty Place was not a factor.
