In the latest It’s Our City TV interview, we get an update on reforms underway in Philadelphia’s Department of Health and Human Services. The overhaul was ordered by our guest Anne Marie Ambrose following the indictment of two DHS social workers and others related to the death of Danieal Kelly. This interview was recorded on Nov 26, 2008 at the WHYY studios. The moderate is Dave Davies, a senior writer for The Philadelphia Daily News, and a regular substitute host for Radio Times and Fresh Air.
It's Our City is a project that uses TV, Radio and Web
to promote civic engagement in the Philadelphia region.

DHS does not do Family Group Decision Making. We had a Family Preservation Meeting and the only people who came were us the family and the DHS social worker. What happened to all the others? …Well they had a private meeting the day before without the family. DHS is not and does not do what they say. Social worker tells you one thing and the upper command says something else. Then when they go to court it is a new story. Do not depend on the Dept. of Human Services to help you. They do not work for reunification as they say. After all they tell you it is a business. So our children are used for profit. Who will listen and help STOP the injustice. Letters to 49 PA Senators and 26 State Reps. who work on Children & Youth Committee. No one will help….protect your children.
