Nutter’s Wish List - $2.6 billion for a Philly stimulus

Thursday, December 18th, 2008 at 3:23 pm - by Dan Pohlig. Filed under: Budget.

Today, the mayors of several cities are meeting with the Obama transition team to plead their case for a piece of the economic stimulus package.  The U.S. Conference of Mayors has posted the wish lists of the several cities here.  Of course, we’re most interested in Mayor Nutter’s list - $2.6 billion for projects ranging from major airport renovations to the reconstruction of the Robin Hood Dell to $100,000,000 for a redevelopment of the Market Street East corridor.

It’s an impressive soup-to-nuts list and gives some insight into what Mayor Nutter considers to be “shovel ready” projects and priorities.  The list is also somewhat revealing in that it points out just how run down so many parts of this city are.
