Our nation’s economy is in the toilet. Philadelphia’s libraries and swimming pools are closing. We get it. Times are tough. On the personal level, folks are saving and spending less. Goodness knows, the bag lunch from home is gaining popularity. But once in a while, wouldn’t it be nice to treat yourself to a Philly Cutback Sandwich? You might be wondering, what’s that? Well, you tell us. People, it’s time to pull out your tastebuds and whip up a nutritious and affordable sandwich our city can eat without busting the wallet. Make sure to post your concoction below, naming the ingredients, and how much you’d sell it for. Once we get a solid list together, we’ll all vote to decide what the winning recipe should be for our beloved Philly Cutback. Then, we’ll see which shops around town will sell our appetizing creation. Consider this civic engagement at its tastiest. We’d like to get a good assortment of sandwiches, so spread the word. Bon Appetit!
It's Our City is a project that uses TV, Radio and Web
to promote civic engagement in the Philadelphia region.

The PBC on Wheat (for when Jelly is Played Out)
• Peanut Butter (chunky or smooth, whatever’s most cost-effective)
• Craisins (or raisins, if you don’t like The Cran)
• 2 slices of wheat bread
Slather peanut butter on one slice of wheat bread. Add Craisins to your taste. Top with other slice of wheat bread. Eat.
Variations include the PBCB (Peanut Butter-Craisin-Banana), and the fried PBCB, if you’d like to leave this world like Elvis Presley did, straining mightily.
Simple, effective, delicious.
