Nearly 250 people crammed a tiny room on Tuesday, Dec 9th at the Roxborough Memorial Hospital for the 5th city town hall meeting to discuss recent budget cuts. Mayor Michael Nutter was in his old council district which proved to be a more civilized evening than previous town hall meetings. This is not to say, people didn’t come out to protest his plan to close a number of fire engine companies, library branches, and swimming pools. In fact, the fire department has had a strong turnout at each event and they continue to challenge the city’s rationale for cutting fire services. Also, in this video you’ll see many residents continue to provide suggestions for the city to save money. Such as getting the city’s sports teams to cough up money in this time of need since taxpayers helped pay for their stadiums. Also, many folks want the city to be more aggressive going after tax-delinquents.

The next tonight hall meeting is tonight, Wednesday, Dec 10th at Benjamin Franklin High School on N Broad Street. The meeting begins at 7:00pm.
