Tuesday night Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter spent nearly 2-1/2 hours taking heat for his recently announced budget cuts. The forum held at South Philadelphia High School was the first of eight planned town hall meetings scheduled around the city over the next three weeks. At the City’s request, WHYY has agreed video tape the proceedings for use on the city cable access channel 64. For anyone who would like to get a quick glance at what happened we’re providing this video online.
WHYY is providing its technical services to the city at no cost. WHYY has had no role in organizing the town hall events.

Mark My Words: By July 15th we will see a rise on the DEATH RATE, CRIME RATE, and WATER RATE.
Close 68 pools? My daughters pool served a minimum of 200 kids/day. Translation: about 14,000 kids on the street with NOTHING TO DO.
Close 68 pools? Translation: at least 68 more hydrants open. No water pressure to fight fires (no matter, no firehouse anyway). Certain Death for residents, Certain property damage for neighbors.
Arson? On the rise, no one will respond.
Close 68 pools? My daughter’s pool hired 6-8 kids/summer. That is about 400 kids out of work. Unemployed Youth = Increased Crime.
Close 68 pools? That is thousands of grandmothers who can’t take grandkids to the pools, and go to the emergency room due to heat stroke. Heat related deaths will go up.
Hint: Tell the new Nutter hires: Take $1 salary this year, learn what it means to be a PUBLIC SERVANT.
