Local economy taking a hit

I don’t mean to the bearer of bad news but this economic crisis is beginning to really take its toll on the region. I’ve compiled a few headlines to show you what I mean. All of these stories are from the past two weeks.

PA Turnpike Authority to cut jobs

Tasty Baking in Phila logs $1.4m loss

Subaru of America based in Cherry Hill, NJ reports 14% drop in sales for Oct

Toll Brothers homebuilder based in Horsham, PA. reports revenue drop of 41%

Journal Register in Yardley, PA may close 13 Conneticut newspapers

City of Camden begins layoffs

QVC based in West Chester to cut hundreds of workers

City of Philadelphia announces budget cuts

Glaxo to close Phila HQ

Comcast to shut down CN8

Kulicke & Soffa based in Fort Washington, PA cutting 240 jobs

A.C. Moore based in Berlin, NJ reports $7.5m loss

Unisys based in Blue Bell, PA reports $34m loss

Equity One is laying off 147 workers at 301 Lippincott Drive, Suite 100, in Marlton this month.

GMAC Mortgage is laying off 32 workers at 7 Carnegie Plaza in Cherry Hill on Nov. 26.

Popular Mortgage is laying off 167 workers at 121 Woodcrest Road in Cherry Hill this month.

Bank of America is laying off 109 employees at 340 S. Warminster Road in Hatboro.

Cigna posts 53% decline in profit
