Former Mayor John Street is back

John Street has a public event scheduled next week. Will he even look the same? / Older photo from the Phila Daily News

It’s been awhile since former Philadelphia Mayor John Street has done any public events. He left office in January and was doing some teaching at Temple University.  But apart from that, and possibly a sighting at an AT&T store, he really hasn’t been seen much. So I was surprised when Brett Mandel from Philadelphia Forward called me to say that he and John Street are going to be doing a panel together. The two differ on how fast the city should lower taxes. So this is going to be more than just a nostalgia tour because last week Mayor Michael Nutter announced the suspension of further tax cuts in an emergency effort to balance the budget. So it should be an interesting discussion, especially now.  If you go, take a picture and email it to us as proof that you really saw John Street.

When: Wednesday, November 19th @ 7pm

Where: The Atwater Kent Museum of Philadelphia
