So…What do you Think of Obama Being Elected?

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008 at 2:02 pm - by Stephanie Marudas. Filed under: Politics.

Are you excited or upset about Barack Obama getting elected? Also tell us what you think of Obama’s victory speech. For those of you who missed it or want to refresh yourself, here’s a link to the full transcript and video. If you heard the speech, what did you feel? Were you one of those people joyously sobbing? In his speech, Obama proclaims that change “can’t happen without you, without a new spirit of service, a new spirit of sacrifice.”  He continues with a JFK-like statement:  ”So let us summon a new spirit of patriotism, of responsibility, where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves but each other.”  Does Obama’s message register with you? Are you ready to pitch in? If so, do you feel inspired to get involved at the local level here in Philadelphia? Tell us what you think.

Yeah, count me among the tears o’ joy. And it was a very humble speech. I can’t imagine how weary he is. And in the midst of everything, he has to deal with his grandmother’s death too.

Well, I am a McCain/Palin supporter, and am very disappointed that they did not win the election. However, Obama was elected for a reason, and I trust in God- He has a purpose for Obama. I am struggling with not being worried a bit about what is to come with Obama’s term, as he is extremely liberal! But at the same time I am I am thinking that maybe he was in fact just what America needs.

He speach was very inspiring, and the hope in everyone’s was moving! I am ready to help summon a new spirit of patriotism, of responsibility, where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves but each other! I will support our newly elected president, and I will pray for him, and all the other newly appointed- God bless America!

McCain gave the better speech, and I was glad to see some of McCain 2000 instead of McCain 2008. I hope he leverages his campaign work and becomes a part of the solution–like Hillary Clinton did after Obama won the nomination.

Obama ran a little long and didn’t have his normal oratory excellence. Totally forgivable given his recent loss, the grueling two years of campaigning, and the settling-in of the responsibility he now bears to bring America back from the brink.
