Environmentalism makes a comeback on campuses as “Sustainability”

Thursday, October 30th, 2008 at 11:45 am - by Its Our City Staff. Filed under: Uncategorized.

In the 1970s and 80’s we used to call saving the planet environmentalism, but I think I missed the renaming ceremony.  So the new word is “sustainability” but whether it was the new buzz word or just the thought of the planet melting, the good news is colleges are taking a more active role in promoting it.  One of the most successful events has been Campus Sustainability Day held this year on October 22nd. It was designed to demonstrate the role of sustainability in all disciplines and campus life. (beer cans are recyclable, so you’re half way there Ben) It’s Our City’s Andrew Forgotch covered the event and has this report.
