Registered voters hit record high in Pennsylvania

As of the latest count, there are 8.7 million registered voters in Pennsylvania topping the previous peak of 8.3 million voters set in 2004.

The voter registration deadline in Pennsylvania was October 6th, but some counties are still counting new registrations. The Associated Press says the final total won’t be known till later this month. The Democrats saw an increase of new members over the past four years and now have a 1.2 million voter edge over republicans.

Oct 2008

Democrats = 4.4 million

Republicans  = 3.2 million

Nov 2004

Democrats = 3.9 million

Republicans = 3.4 million
