It’s Our City’s Amiekay Richcrick went to this morning’s Barack Obama rally in North Philadelphia. We have this short excerpt for you right now. She will have a full report on the event tomorrow on It’s Our City.
Updated: 2:00pm. In the comment section below, you can follow Philadelphia Twitter comments that began being posted on the internet early this morning. For Barack Obama’s four rally, I didn’t see many Twitter postings, so while watching a live feed of the event I posted some of the points Obama made during the speech. My understanding is that he gave the same speech throughout Philadelphia…all included a long story on why the Senator likes pie.
—————-original post—————-
The Philadelphia Twitterati is out in full force today with tweets trickling in on Barack Obama’s four scheduled campaign rallies. Throughout the day I’ll be updating this post with the latest observations I find in Twitterland.

The last event was in West Philadelphia on 52nd st. The blog malcolmxpark.org had posted some photos earlier this morning of the crowds.
The folks at Temple University’s Information Technology and Society Research Group snapped a few good pics this morning of Obama’s North Philadelphia rally. In fact, i checked back at 12:04pm, they now have pictures of the crews breaking down the stage to allow Prospect Plaza to re-open for business. It’s like watching a live webcam.
Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is scheduled to get booed drop the ceremonial puck tonight at 7:00pm for the Philadelpha Flyers game at Wachovia Center. Politico has this interesting article quoting political pundits on whether this PR stunt might backfire. Here’s the official Philadelphia Flyers PR release on Palin.

Obama says, McCain made an attempt at being more respectable in this campaign, he says that’s great. but when it comes to the economy …mccain is out of touch and that’s why he’s out of time.
October 11th, 2008 at 1:41 pm
Obama says this is the most serious economic crisis in the US since the Great Depression. He says the McCain Campaign doesn’t want to talk about the economy, instead is choosing to make personal attacks. Obama says, it won’t work this time, the times are too serious.
October 11th, 2008 at 1:42 pm

Obama says he likes sweet potato pie. but in he couldn’t get that while campaigning in another state. he says he got his picture taken with the owner of the restaurant. who is a republican. Obama asks him how’z business. he says, not so good. Obama says he asked the owner who’s been in control the last years. He says, the republicans. Obama says we cannot afford 8 more years of republican policies.

October 11th, 2008 at 1:54 pm
Obama says, improving america won’t be easy. we will all have to work together. tells parents to turn off the tv, turn off the video games, and support kids in school more, and tells fathers they too need to play a role in ensuring kids do better.
October 11th, 2008 at 1:56 pm
Obama says, i was raised by a single mother, and his grandparents, they gave me love and a a great education. He says, they sacrificed for him. He says, everyone has a relative like this that made sacrifices for them. that’s the story of America. Each successive generation working hard for the next generation.
