Judge refuses a new tax evasion trial for Milton Street

Friday, September 26th, 2008 at 12:37 pm - by Matt Campbell. Filed under: Courts.

I just saw this on the AP and had to share it with you. It says a judge has refused to grant a new trial for Milton Street the older brother of former Philadelphia Mayor John Street. Bummer for Milton because he could get up to three-years in prison. This happened this morning during what is supposed to be Milton’s sentencing hearing, after being convicted on there misdemeanor charges related to taxes. We are still waiting for word on this.

In addition to being the brother of John Street, Milton had big ambitions himself, last year he ran unsuccessfully for Mayor and for City Council. That’s not an error, he first ran for mayor then changed his mind and switched to being a council candidate.

fyi: If any of you don’t know Milton, here he is being interviewed in Feb 2007 after he announced that he would run for Mayor of Philadelphia. Fox29 Video clip
