Mayor Nutter says “full blown investigation” underway on why cop killer was on the streets

Thursday, September 25th, 2008 at 6:00 am - by Alan Tu. Filed under: Crime.

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter said Daniel Giddings, the man who shot and killed Philadelphia police officer Patrick McDonald on Tuesday shouldn’t have been on the street. Speaking yesterday on Radio Times with Marty Moss-Coane, Nutter said “I want to know everything about him (Giddings) and why he was even on the streets in the first place…He was a bad person when he was on the streets, he was a bad person when he was in prison, he was a bad person, who in my opinion who shouldn’t of been on the streets of Philadelphia in the first place.”  Nutter is right, Giddings was wanted by the police for a fight he had last month that left two Highway Patrol officers injured and for violating his parole. Giddings who was jailed in 2000 at the state prison in Albion, PA for a violent carjacking was released to a local correctional facility last month.
