Is a historic building in your neighborhood an “endangered property”

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008 at 3:57 pm - by Dan Pohlig. Filed under: Uncategorized.

The Preservation Alliance of Greater Philadelphia is looking for your input as it puts together its annual list of Endangered Properties.

The deadline for submission is October 1, 2008 so if you’ve been walking along in your part of town and noticed that a particularly unique, historic property is in danger - either because of neglect or imminent destruction - you have you chance to bring it someone’s attention.

The Preservation Alliance works to hold developers, property owners and government officials accountable for decisions that lead to the unnecessary destruction of the historic character of Philadelphia. Input from community activists and concerned citizens is at the core of helping to protect those little, lower profile properties than don’t get the attention of the Dilworth House but mean just as much to the fabric of a neighborhood.

You can use the Preservation Alliance’s on-line form and check out past Endangered Properties lists going back to 2003.

Via DESIGNPHILADELPHIA (which has an endangered property nominee of its own).
