Philadelphia’s Liberty Award will be presented to Mikhail Gorbachev tonight at the National Constitution Center. The NCC says it chose the former President of the Soviet Union for his role in ending the Cold War and giving hope and freedom to those living behind the Iron Curtain. The award ceremony begins at 7:00pm tonight and will be broadcast live on CBS3 in Philadelphia. Former President George H.W. Bush will present the award. The NCC closes at 1:00pm this afternoon.
WHYY is located across the street from the NCC so we ran over there to see how preparations were going. These shots were taken at 10:00am this morning.
